Three things:
1. read somewhere (not that everything you read is true) but, that "eco" is in.
2. Huge "baby boomer" population out there, all of them around before superstore concept in bookselling and of course internet
3. auctioneering business booms in tough economic times, people looking for bargains--still want to buy (the book) just don't want to pay too much. Also, libraries are doing well as people would rather check out than buy--possible "libary" concept within a book store?
