on the poem "ulysses"

When I asked mom why she chose the poem "Ulysses" to be read at her memorial service she said because the point it makes isto always continue to "shine" in one's life no matter how many things you have accomplished. She didn't ask that Shakespeare be read. I only read a part of the poem at the service--there must be more to the poem--she was so weak the day we talked about the poem i doubt that I really was able to get from her all that the poem meant to her.
